Description

Zoologists study the origin and development of animal species, the habits and behaviour of animals, and the interaction between animals and their environment. They also research to learn how animal diseases develop and how traits are passed from generation to generation.

Animal and environmental biology encompasses the links between environmental factors and bio data at a range of levels from molecules to ecosystems, and the application of this knowledge to challenges such as sustainable food production, biodiversity conservation and maintenance of ecosystem services.

Note that in some schools the department of Zoology has been renamed as Animal and Environment Biology.
